Dunedin's
International Ice Skating Arena, the DUNEDIN ICE STADIUM, is
the New Zealand premier ice sports complex. With the 'Corinne
Gilkison' ice skating rink, (a full size Olympic ice hockey
arena) and the adjacent 'Caversham Foundation' four lane
curling sheet, the complex is recognised as the best public ice
skating facility in Australasia. The 60x30 metre rink was
opened in 2004, and the adjacent curling rink was completed in
2005 and officially opened for the public in 2006. The
Alexander McMillan stand has seating for 1500 people while the
rinkside stand will accommodate 350 spectators. The DUNEDIN ICE
STADIUM operates 364/365 for public
skating.

To celebrate children's birthday parties
(6 or more per group), soft drinks, ice cream cake with
candles, hot chips and a choice of hot dog, fish, chicken
nuggets, doughnut, or pizza are provided in the party
room at a cost of $15 per head. Group bookings can be
made by arrangement with the management for all ice sport
activities. A heated viewing lounge adjacent to the main
arena is provided for the comfort of any non
participating caregivers.
Daily public ice skating
sessions are popular but ice sports catered for
include figure skating, speed
skating, ice hockey and curling. All clubs involved enjoy a healthy and growing
participation. Youngsters are encouraged to participate in
the 'Kiwi Skate' learner classes held
on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Kiwi hockey classes
are held on Thursdays and hockey beginners on
Sundays.
Three professional international coaches,
Canadian Deanna Pielak-Jones and Russians Fanis
Shakirzianau and Maryna Shakirzianau are available for
private and club coaching. Please contact the DUNEDIN ICE

A popular teenage Disco is held each
Friday night from 7:30pm till 10:pm
Ice blade sharpening is available using
our modern ice skate sharpening
equipment.
With adjacent ice rinks, different ice
activities can be held simultaneously (eg. Warm up and
competition). Up to ten curling lanes can accomodate 20
curling teams for indoor bonspiel competition on the
available ice.
Anyone interested in group activities is
welcome to contact our friendly staff. Social groups can
be catered for any special occasion. Curling is a
particularly popular social activity for many groups. Our
staff are keen to assist with any
enquiry.
